Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with Integrated Foundation offered by the University of Buckingham at the Foundation Department

Biomedical science focuses on how cells, organs and metabolic systems function in the human body. Through this understanding of health and disease processes, new treatments and therapies can be created or developed, which makes it a very dynamic and exciting field of study.

The 3 year BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (including integrated Foundation year) is a combination of our Biomedical Foundation followed by our 2 year BSc. It is designed for students who prefer to complete our 2 year BSc but requires additional modules to meet entry criteria for this accelerated degree course.

This course has the same entry requirements as a Biomedical Foundation and the same advantages and progression opportunities of our 2 year BSc. This course is usually most suited to international students and therefore we have included an optional English & Academic Skills module taught in the first semester.

Why is this BSc programme unique?
  • Students who are predicted, or achieve, a 2.1 will be guaranteed an invitation to the second phase of the University of Buckingham MB ChB Selection Process – the MMI. Applicants will also be required to have grade C in English GCSE, or if English is not their first language an IELTS of 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 in each component.
  • It allows students to complete a foundation course and BSc (Hons) degree in just 3 years.
  • Ideal for international students that require additional English and Study Skills support before embarking on a challenging degree course such as medicine or dentistry.
